Pundit verdict on Liverpool signing Thiago Alcantara replacement after latest
Alan Hutton has claimed Liverpool do not need to sign a replacement for Thiago Alcantara.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Jurgen Klopp won’t be “rushing to replace” Thiago.
The midfielder picked up a hamstring strain during Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Fulham last Saturday (6 August).
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (12 August), Klopp said it will be four to six weeks before the 31-year-old could return to the squad.
Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are already on the injury list and are expected to be absent for a number of weeks.
Naby Keita has returned to the squad following illness and Kostas Tsimikas has also returned to training this week.

When asked if Klopp will want to bring in a replacement for Thiago, Hutton told Football Insider: “There’s three weeks left of the transfer window I don’t think any manager will shut any doors.
“It’s not just about numbers, it’s about being better. Can he bring somebody in who’s better than what he’s already got? For me, that’s probably a no when it comes to Thiago, he’s so influential when he’s playing.
“The problem with him is that he picks up niggly injuries. It’s not ideal but I don’t think it’s a player where Jurgen Klopp will be rushing out to replace. I think he’ll think he’s got enough just to cover in the meantime.“
