Alan Hutton has claimed Man United may have overpaid for Antony despite a debut goal for the Brazilian winger.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Ajax have made an "astronomical" amount of money on the 22-year-old.

Antony made his debut for the Red Devils against Arsenal on Sunday (4 September).

As shown on Sky Sports (4 September), the right-winger scored the first goal of the game.

On Thursday (1 September), United confirmed the signing of Antony from Ajax.

The forward put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford that includes the option of a further year.

As revealed by Sky Sports (1 September), the deal is worth £86million.

When asked if United overpaid for the winger, Hutton told Football Insider: "Perhaps, time will tell.

"From what I’ve seen of him wow. He’s a trickster, he’s a fantastic player. Ten Hag obviously knows him well.

"Ajax only bought him for £20million so the money that they’ve made on him is astronomical so they’re in a good place at this moment in time. A lot of it will be potential, he’s coming to a league that, I believe, is a lot harder than the Dutch league so he’s going to have to play to a high standard week in week out.

"There’s pressure when you go to Man United but he looks like the type of player that can take it on no problem. He loves to excite crowds and I’m actually really looking forward to seeing him and what will happen."
