Micky van de Ven's injury blow will open the door for Radu Dragusin to have a run in the Tottenham side.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted that van de Ven's style of play makes him injury-prone, but Dragusin is an "outstanding" cover.

The Romania international made his first start for his new side in Spurs' recent 3-0 defeat against Fulham on Saturday (16 March) in van de Ven's absence.

Before the Craven Cottage disappointment, Dragusin had made just four appearances - all brief cameos except for when he replaced the injured van de Ven against Aston Villa early in the second half.

Radu Dragusin has a chance to impress at Tottenham

The Dutchman's injury is not believed to be long-term, with Ange Postecoglou revealing that he is hopeful he will return soon after the international break.

Robinson is hopeful that Dragusin can seize his rare opportunity to start during van de Ven's spell away and show fans what he's capable of.

"Van de Ven is always going to be susceptible to a hamstring injury," he told the Inside Track podcast.

"Is it worrying? No.

"Athletes of that pace and quality will always be susceptible.

"But Tottenham addressed that in January with Dragusin.

"He's come in and we've hardly seen anything of him.

"This will be his opportunity.

"There were questions of who was going to play, but Dragusin has had to wait his time.

"He's come on in the last few minutes of games as a right-back and a holding midfielder.

"He's an outstanding centre-back and now is his chance."
