Patterson to Everton may already be a done deal after Rangers update - Whelan
There may already be a deal in place for Rangers starlet Nathan Patterson to join Everton at the end of the season.
So says ex-Scottish Premiership forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 18-year-old Ibrox full-back.
The Scottish Sun reported on 12 September that the Toffees are prepared to pay the £10million-plus that Rangers are said to be demanding.
Patterson is under contract with the Scottish champions until 2024 after he signed a two-year extension in January.
Whelan suggests that the youngster is unlikely to leave in the mid-season window but could be set for an Everton switch next summer.
“I’d be surprised if he does leave in January,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“At £10m, that all depends on whether Everton can get players out of the club.
“I think if there is already an agreement in place, which might be the case and might be at the end of the season, it would benefit everyone, quite frankly.
“At £10m, that is very low. But he’s only just come through, so Rangers will see that as £10m they could then go out and spend.
“It’s a free hit on a player that came through the academy system. Seamus Coleman can’t go on forever, so Everton are looking to rebuild.
“We know for a fact that there are so many fantastic full-backs that have come out of the Scottish Premiership recently.
“He looks a superb player. Personally, I think one more season at the club wouldn’t do him any harm.”
