Rangers will take stock midway through next season on Philippe Clement’s position at the club, sources have told Football Insider

Clement still has credit in the bank within the Ibrox boardroom after he oversaw a couple of long unbeaten runs throughout the season and secured the Viaplay Cup in December.

Rangers chiefs are believed to be happy with his performance so far despite losing out on both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Sources say the 50-year-old is expecting to be backed in the transfer market as he looks to revamp his squad in the window that formally opens in mid-June.

Philippe Clement set to continue as Rangers manager next season

Clement took over at Rangers in October after Michael Beale was sacked following a difficult start to the season.

The Belgian managed to propel the Gers back into the title race and they even spent a few weeks at the top of the table before a late dip in form saw his side miss out on the Scottish Premiership trophy.

Clement has revealed he is planning a “big” rebuild at Ibrox ahead of the transfer window reopening in a matter of weeks.

John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, Leon Balogun and John McLaughlin are all out of contract this summer and could potentially be heading for an exit.

Rangers

Rangers have already sealed one signing after agreeing a deal with Fluminense for Brazillian full-back Jefte.

The Light Blues could have another early transfer wrapped up soon after Football Insider revealed the club are closing in on a deal for Levski Sofia centre-back Jose Cordoba.
