Head of Recruitment Frank McParland is set to quit Rangers after growing unhappy with the amount of resources at his disposal, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim that McParland is displeased with the small transfer budget he has available and is poised to leave Ibrox.

It is understood that a number of English clubs are interested in the scout’s services and that has caused him to think about his future.

McParland’s desire to leave comes amid growing pressure on manager Mark Warburton, who has seen his side slip 27 points behind leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

McParland and Warburton have worked together on a number of occasions during spells at Watford and Brentford in the past, and were reunited at Rangers in 2015.

The scout was responsible for a number of failed signings in the summer, including the episode that saw Joey Barton join and then leave for Burnley.

He also recruited the likes of Niko Kranjcar, Philippe Senderos and Joe Garner, with all of them failing to make a strong impression in the starting line-up.

Former Liverpool scouts McParland failed to really strengthen in the sumer and his only credible signing was upcoming midfielder Josh Windass.

Football Insider verdict:

Rangers boss Warburton believes that chief scout McParland is one of the best in the business at spotting young talent, with the pair having a long history of working together. However, he has been let down by his associate during his time at Ibrox as they failed to make any considerable signing in the summer. Veteran striker Kenny Miller is still regarded as one of the most important players in the side and the gamble of Garner has not paid off. McParland’s imminent departure is another sign that everything is going wrong for Warburton and he himself could depart the club. The Gers supporters were not expecting their side to be right up there with Celtic and fighting for the title on their first season back in the top-flight, but a 27-point gap at this stage is a sign of how much they failed in the transfer window.
