Campbell verdict on Gerrard potentially quitting Rangers amid Crystal Palace claim
Steven Gerrard will not leave Rangers for a team like Crystal Palace even though he will have Premier League suitors in the summer.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalscorer Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Gerrard secured the first league title of his footballing career after Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Dundee United on Sunday.
The triumph officially ended arch-rivals Celtic’s dream of winning 10 successive titles and was Rangers first Scottish Premiership triumph since 2011.
Gerrard has masterminded Rangers climb back to the top of the Scottish game and the current speculation regarding his future was therefore inevitable.
But ex-Rangers chairman Dave King, the man who appointed Gerrard, told the Glasgow Times there was a “zero per cent” chance of him leaving the club in the near future.
And Campbell insists that Gerrard will have no interest in a Premier League switch as the allure of Champions League nights at Ibrox next season will be too great.

“There could possibly be offers for him but he won’t be leaving,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“He will want to have a spin at the Champions League. He’s just won the title and made it to the Champions League with Rangers.
“No disrespect to teams like, say, Crystal Palace but you don’t do all that work to then go and have a survival battle in the Premier League. No chance.
“You go and you play in the Champions League, you bring the big teams to Ibrox. Hopefully, the fans will be back in and the stadium will be bouncing.
“Playing some of the biggest teams in Europe with a squad that’s just won the league and stopped Celtic’s 10-in-a-row, that’s what it’s all about.”
After securing the league title, Gerrard’s attention now turns to attempting to go unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership and extend their run in Europe.
They play the first leg of their last-16 tie against Slavia Prague this evening.
