Venezia have had an offer accepted by Leuven for Celtic and Rangers target Thomas Henry, Football Insider understands.

The Serie A new boys are set to beat the Glasgow giants to the capture of the prolific French striker.

An industry source told Football Insider that Henry is flying in to Italy today to sign for Venezia.

The Italian outfit have had a bid accepted by Leuven and Henry has agreed personal terms.

That came after Football Insider first broke news the previous day that Leuven had accepted a £4.5million bid from Belgian rivals Gent.

But Venezia, who were promoted from Serie B via the play-offs in 2020-21, will now hope they can get the deal for the 26-year-old striker over the line.

Henry has a contract at Leuven that runs until the summer of 2023 after signing an extension in January of last year.

The Frenchman has begun the season in stellar form, scoring three times in Leuven's opening four games.

Henry has been one of the Pro League's most lethal marksmen in recent years.

As well as supplying 12 assists, he has netted 45 times in 78 appearances for the side currently sat second from bottom in the Belgian top-flight.

Rangers and Celtic could yet lose their leading centre-forwards this summer, with the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Odsonne Edouard up in the air.
