Kieran Maguire: Douglas Park has 'applied the thumb screws' as 'critical' Rangers deal agreed
Douglas Park has “applied the thumb screws” in order to give Rangers the best deal possible with his company Park’s Motors.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rangers’ latest commercial deal with the Ibrox chairman.
The club announced on 27 January that they had signed what is described as an “enhanced long-term partnership agreement” with the car dealership group.
Parks Motors will have secured presenting rights for both the Rangers Training Centre and the new Edmiston House development, which opened its doors last week.
Commercial director James Bisgrove called the tie-up “one of the most exciting and extensive partnership agreements the club has secured.”
Maguire believes that Park will have been generous during negotiations in order to “maximise” the benefit for Rangers.

“Rangers will be looking to maximise their commercial income,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“The fact this deal is with the chairman bodes well for them.
“They had a disappointing Champions League. They didn’t earn any additional revenues from their results in the group stage.
“Consequently, they are looking for increased sponsorship. It is critical for them. Having a related party involved in one of those deals is beneficial for Rangers.
“Douglas Park is going to apply the thumb screws. I don’t think he will negotiate a price on behalf of Parks Motors as low as he would do if he was in talks with another company.
