Rangers enquire about availability of 22-year-old international - report
By Harvey Byrne
Rangers have made an enquiry for Hearts full-back Callum Paterson, according to a report.
The Daily Record has claimed that the 22-year-old right-back is firmly on manager Pedro Caixinha’s radar and that the Gers have expressed an interest in bringing him to Ibrox.
However, it is stated that the five-time capped Scotland international does have at least “two concrete offers” from clubs in the English Championship as he himself recovers from cruciate ligament damage.
Paterson’s contract is also expiring at Hearts at the end of this month. meaning that like fellow Rangers target Ryan Jack the Scotsman can be picked up free of charge.
Paterson has not played for Hearts since December due to his injury, but before that he was one of the side’s key players with a fine return of 10 goals and two assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.

Manager Caixinha may also be looking for a right sided defensive player who he feels can both defend and attack adequately this summer with there still being question marks over current senior choices James Tavernier and Lee Hodson.
Football Insider verdict:
Caixinha knows that he has to bring in players with Premiership experience this summer to bolster his squad and signings like Jack and Paterson can certainly be viewed as good business. Neither player are going to cost the club anything and like Jack, Paterson has played over 100 times in the Premiership. The full-back is also certainly an exciting signing due to his goal and assists return and Rangers fans will surely love his willingness to drive forward. But, they will also be hoping he can do a job at the back as that is where many feel current first choice Tavernier’s limitations lie.
