Rangers Exclusive: Phillips told massive new Leeds bid tabled for Ryan Kent

Kevin Phillips has claimed Rangers winger Ryan Kent is worth up to £15 million as he revealed a massive new bid is to be submitted.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former England international admitted that the eight-figure fee was a lot for a player plying his trade in the Scottish Premiership, as well as suggesting that the lure of the Premier League could be a difficult one for him to resist.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier in the week, the Whites are preparing a second bid for the 23-year-old after initially failing with an offer that would have been worth around £10 million in total.

But Phillips believes that they may have to up their initial approach substantially if they are to tempt the Gers into selling.

When asked how much Ryan Kent is worth during an interview with Football Insider, he said: “It is a tough one.

“I have been told they are going to go back with another offer. I would say £12-15 million. Perhaps that is a lot of money for someone who has been playing in the Scottish Premiership.

“It will ultimately come down to the player. What are his ambitions? He looks very, very happy up in Scotland. He is enjoying his football and has European football to look forward to. He is extremely comfortable there but the lure of the Premier League, sometimes, is too much to turn down.

“I would say between £12-15 million – no more than that for me.”

Kent has started the 2019/20 campaign in fine form, hitting three goals in first six Premiership matches of the season.

The ex-Liverpool signed for the Gers last summer in a deal worth around £7 million after having spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Ibrox too.

In other news, Rangers have been told during talks to pay £1million-plus fee for Premier League star earning £40,000-a-week.
