Rangers expert issues 'huge' Giovanni van Bronckhorst sack claim after source's reveal

Alan Hutton has insisted there is “a huge question mark” over Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s future at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back insisted recent performances have not been good enough but only the board will know the best option moving forward.

On Monday (14 November), sources told this site that the Light Blues are increasingly likely to sack Van Bronckhorst in the coming days.

The Ibrox board have been locked in discussions about the Dutchman’s future following the 1-1 draw with St Mirren on Saturday (12 November).

Football Insider has been told that the club are likely to concede that a change of manager is needed despite the multi-million pound cost of removing the 47-year-old.

When asked if Rangers may keep their faith in the manager given the cost of sacking him, Hutton told Football Insider:As long as they see the club moving in the right direction.

I know performances have not been there at this moment in time. You have to weigh everything up. Can he get the best out of this squad? Are they willing to give him money to invest and make it better?

There is no getting away from the fact that the injuries have definitely hurt the squad this season. He has dropped something like 12 points before Christmas which, for a team like Rangers is not good enough.

You should still be able to grind out results and they just have not been able to. These questions are always going to be hanging over his head.

Do they make the decision now when they can get somebody in to work with the players for a month and try and become better for the second part of the season? Only they will know that.

It is a huge question mark at this moment in time.
