'Bin man at best' - Rangers fans absolutely destroy 25-year-old on Twitter after display v Celtic

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers fans on Twitter have absolutely destroyed midfielder Andy Halliday after his poor performance against Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old midfielder was named in the starting line-up at Hampden Park for the Scottish Cup semi-final meeting.

However, he lasted just 45 minutes before being hauled off at half time for attacker Barrie McKay.

The tactical decision didn’t help the Gers and Pedro Caixinha’s team still ended up falling to a 2-0 defeat against their fierce Glasgow rivals.

However, Halliday still picked up large portions of the blame for the result and many were keen to point out his deficiencies on social media.

One fan shared that he was a “bin man at best”, while another took the chance to look back by comparing Halliday and Martyn Waghorn to past greats Paul Gascoigne and Brian Laudrup.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Halliday has competed in 39 matches for Rangers in all competitions this season, returning five goals.

He still has three years remaining on his contract at the Ibrox giants, giving him time to rediscover his form at the club.

However, Rangers will face Celtic again next Saturday and fans are unlikely to want him back in the team next week.
