Rangers fans are insisting Jack Butland must be axed from the starting XI after his performance in their clash v Dundee United at Tannadice Park.

Philippe Clement's side fought back from a goal behind to secure a 3-1 victory on the road after goals from Mohamed Diomande and Robin Propper cancelled out Sam Dalby's opener, and a late Cyriel Dessers goal took the result beyond all doubt.

Diomande was later controversially sent off in the closing stages of the game.

However, it was the lack of confidence from the keeper throughout which caught the eye of the travelling supporters who were left fuming despite the eventual result.

United's main threat came via their set-pieces, with the opening goal coming after Rangers failed to clear from a long throw-in, but Butland's lack of decisive action did them no favours.

The shot-stopper was often rooted to his line or left flapping at balls into the box, with a clear nervousness to his game which fans have been quick to criticise.

With the goalkeeper and the defence both looking shaky, and Rangers' questionable performances on the road continuing, many have now suggested changes to the team sheet are required.

A lack of strength in depth has been a recurring issue for Clement, with an injury crisis leaving him short of numbers and options for rotation.

However, the inconsistent performances across the board, fans are calling for Butland to be the first change to the team-sheet with Liam Kelly waiting in reserve.

Taking to social media during the frustrating clash at Tannadice, supporters labelled their goalkeeper "embarrassing", "pathetic" and "laughable".
