Rangers fans were furious with officials after they were denied a penalty in their 3-0 Scottish League Cup win against Dundee FC on Saturday (September 21).

Cyriel Dessers, 29, was wrestled to the ground by a Dundee FC defender during a corner routine for the home side but the referee decided there wasn't enough in it to award a spot-kick.

Thankfully for the Ibrox faithful, the striker was in fine form once again, scoring the opener with a cheeky little flick from James Tavernier's long-range effort.

Dessers was eventually awarded a penalty in the second half for a similar incident, with captain Tavernier converting from the spot to double their lead.

The Nigeria international then got his second and Rangers' third to secure an impressive 3-0 victory and send the Glasgow club to the next round.

Pressure on manager Philippe Clement has been momentarily relieved as they remain far behind rivals Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premier League title.

Rangers fans angry after penalty shout

The Scottish League Cup is an opportunity for Clement and Rangers to put smiles on faces having won it last season.

Despite the victory, Rangers fans still took to X, formally known as Twitter, to vent their frustrations at the officials for the decision.
