Teenage midfielder James Maxwell has agreed the terms of a professional contract with Rangers – and most fans have taken to Twitter to deliver a thumbs-up.
The Scottish giants announced on their official academy account on Friday evening that Maxwell, 17, has signed a two-year deal that runs until the summer of 2020.

Rangers have been busy tying down the cream of their scholars to contracts with a flurry of agreements in recent weeks for those they believe have the talent and mentality to cut it.
Maxwell is not one of the academy players who has caught the wider attention of those who follow Rangers, but he has done enough to convince Craig Mulholland and company of his ability.
Fans of the Glasgow giants took to social media to give their backing to the deal and to urge Maxwell to keep working hard, although one Celtic supporter labelled the youngster an “imposter”.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Well done . Keep working hard.

Maxwell will now be hoping to follow the likes of Ross McCrorie and Myles Beerman from the youth team to the senior set-up.
