Rangers fans have aired their delight on Twitter after it was confirmed that centre-back Rob Kiernan had departed for English League One side Southend.

Kiernan joined Rangers while the Ibrox giants were in the Championship in the summer of 2015 and helped the Glasgow giants achieve promotion in his debut campaign.
However, once in the Premiership he and many others of the Gers squad struggled with the expectation around the club and he has now been allowed to leave as Pedro Caixinha continues to overhaul the squad.
A number of fans on social media have also welcomed the transfer with one fan going as far as to say that it’s the best news he’s heard all year, while others stated that they’re glad he’s gone.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Kiernan away?! Happy with that in the same way I would be about a new signing.

Never forgave him for selling that first goal in the cup final. Glad he's gone, another piece of the puzzle sorted 👍

Kiernan played 76 times in total for Rangers, including 31 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign.
He will now be hoping to help Phil Brown’s Southend team win promotion from League One as he looks to restart his career in England.
In other Rangers transfer news, this Gers 23-year-old has responded to interest from England.
