'Maldini', 'Does it have to' - Rangers fans react to heartfelt message from 6'3" enforcer
Rangers defender David Bates has bid farewell to Gers supporters on Twitter and fans are clear they do not want to see the back of the Hamburg-bound enforcer.
The 21-year-old announced a shock move to the Bundesliga side back in April on a four-year deal after only recently breaking into the Light Blues first team and making 12 appearances for them in Scottish Premiership.
His impression on the side appeared to be strong enough that the German side opted to make a surprise swoop for the centre-back.
In reflection of his goal against Kilmarnock in his last home game for the club, Bates wrote on Twitter: “Think I enjoyed that goal Great to get a clean sheet and the winning goal on my last game at ibrox.”

With the appointment of Steven Gerrard as the new manager of Ibrox, there has been a great deal of excitement surrounding the Glaswegian giants, and after Bates’ Tweet, sections of supporters were hopeful the 6’3″ giant would perform a u-turn and stay at the club under what looks to be a vastly different future compared to events of recent years.
One fan asked, “Does it have to be your last game,’ while another said simply, “Please don’t go.”
