'Not good enough for Under-23s' - Rangers fans destroy 25-year-old after Celtic display

By Harvey Byrne

Andy Halliday played 45 minutes of Rangers’ heavy defeat against Celtic on Saturday – and Gers fans were distraught with what they saw.

The Gers went into Saturday afternoon’s clash at Ibrox with hopes that they could put an end to Brendan Rodgers’ men’s unbeaten run.

However, goals from each of Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor, Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustic ensured that the Gers fell to a humiliating  5-1 defeat on their own turf against their most fierce rivals with Kenny Miller striking a late consolation.

A number of the Rangers men came in for some harsh criticism from their own supporters after the match and one of those included substitute Halliday.

One fan questioned how the midfielder was even in the squad let alone on the pitch, while another stated that he wasn’t even good enough for the club’s Under-23s.

Halliday’s appearance on Saturday marked his 31st in the Premiership for this campaign and he has returned three goals.

His most recent league appearances have however been reduced ones, starting just one the Gers’ last seven Premiership matches.

The 25-year-old midfielder still has three years left on his contract at the club, but it is clear that he needs to improve if he wants to remain at the famous club.
