Rangers fans react on Twitter to Malky Mackay, after next manager odds drop

By Harvey Byrne

Malky Mackay has had his odds slashed to 7/2 to become the next Rangers manager – and Gers fans have taken to Twitter to share their horror.

Bookmakers Sky Bet have installed Mackay as the second favourite for the job with Alex McLeish remaining the favourite at 7/4, while Graeme Murty (5/1) and Dougie Freedman (7/1) trail behind.

Former Scotland international Mackay has no ties to Rangers and even played for fierce rivals Celtic for three years during his playing career.

Since his retirement in 2008 he has managed three sides in Watford, Cardiff and Wigan, but he lost his job in charge of the Latics in controversial circumstances in 2015.

He is now the performance director for the Scottish FA and Rangers fans on social media have made it clear that they want him to stay there.

A number of fans showed their feelings via GIF’s and emoji’s, while one even shared that the Gers would be better off appointing late actor Fulton Mackay.

Rangers have been on the search for a new manager following the departure of Mark Warburton earlier in the month.

Graeme Murty is currently in temporary charge of the club, but with the Gers failing to win any of their last three league matches and with Celtic coming up soon fans will be hoping the situation is sorted soon.
