Rangers fans react on Twitter as Warburton reportedly closes in on new job

By Harvey Byrne

Mark Warburton is reportedly closing in on the Nottingham Forest managerial job – and Rangers fans on Twitter have sent their sympathies to the Championship club.

The 54-year-old has been out of work since leaving his position at Ibrox in the middle of February alongside Frank McParland and Davied Weir.

McParland has since been appointed Forest’s director of football and now Nottingham Post correspondent Paul Taylor has reported on his personal Twitter account that Forest could finalise a deal for Warburton within the next 24 hours.

This news brought a number of reactions from the Rangers fan base on social media with some simply replying with snake emoji’s in relation to the way that Warburton lost his job at Ibrox.

Meanwhile, others told Forest fans to enjoy the 4-3-3 formation and the signings which Warburton was so often ridiculed for in Glasgow.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Warburton won promotion with Rangers from the Scottish Championship to the Premiership in the summer.

However, his final months at the club came under much scrutiny and his reputation at Rangers has since been shattered due to the way that he left Glasgow.

A return to England could now be best for Warburton’s career after past success with Brentford and if he is appointed at Nottingham Forest he will be hoping to steer them clear of relegation.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has named this Gers trio in his team of the week after Sunday’s draw with Celtic.
