Rangers have announced the signing of Hamilton Academic midfielder Greg Docherty on Thursday after finalising a deal at Ibrox and completing a medical.
The Gers announced the arrival of the 21-year-old who has been a revelation this term – playing a starring role in the centre of the park for the Accies – via Twitter and on their official website.
After being with Hamilton since the age of nine, Docherty, a lifelong Rangers fans, has moved to the Glaswegian outfit on a four and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee.
And supporters of the Light Blues are in raptures after hearing the club’s latest news and urged their latest acquisition to go and make a name for himself and restore the Gers to the pinnacle of Scottish football.

Rumours of a potential transfer of the young Scot began to circulate last week and when Martin Canning, the Accies manager chose to leave the midfielder out of his side’s cup tie at the weekend, speculation of a move went into overdrive.
Only yesterday, Canning spoke about the loss his club would feel without the services of Docherty.
The 21-year-old is Rangers’ manager Graeme Murty’s fifth signing of the transfer window and after his side’s 2-0 victory in the Scottish Premier League against Aberdeen, the boss hinted that the Ibrox outfit’s business may not yet be over.
It is also looking as though right-back Bruno Alves may also be staying in Scotland after Serie A side Benevento were reported to have dropped their interest in the Portuguese international.
Docherty could now go straight into a new look Light Blues starting XI for the trip to Ross County on Sunday and a chance for Rangers to perhaps give Celtic something to worry about.
Here is a selection of Tweets sent by Rangers supporters in reaction to the club’s latest signing:
