Rangers fans want Jack Butland sold after ‘absolutely atrocious’ mistake vs Falkirk
Jack Butland could be in his final season as a Rangers player, and those at Ibrox are unlikely to miss him after yet another blunder.
The goalkeeper has been under tremendous pressure throughout the 2025-26 campaign, and with the Gers falling out of the Scottish Premiership title race, he has often been the scapegoat.
Despite his mistakes, four of which have led to goals in the league, he has remained the No.1 shot-stopper under Russell Martin and Danny Rohl, with very few options behind him.
Rangers fans are finally fed up with the former Crystal Palace man, though, and there could be even more upset and frustration if the club don’t sign a brand-new, more dependable goalkeeper this summer.

The Light Blues appeared to be heading for a simple win over Falkirk on Saturday, 16 May, having taken a two-goal lead through Youssef Chermiti within the opening six minutes.
However, just seconds after the in-form striker hit the back of the net with an audacious hit, Butland had stolen the spotlight at Falkirk Stadium for all the wrong reasons.
A pass back to the 33-year-old somehow squirmed under his foot, rolling embarrassingly into the back of the net, and instantly giving the Bairns a route back into the game.
His mistake was described as “absolutely atrocious,” and rightly so, gifting a goal to the home side. It could be one of his final acts in a Rangers shirt, with no games left at all.
- @rrfm55: “Please tell me this is Butland’s last game for us.”
- @bazthekid1: “We need a new goalkeeper. Never going to win a league with him in goals.”
- @shaunrbrown: “Get rid of Butland. Enough is enough.”
It ended as a seven-goal thriller at the Falkirk Stadium, with Djeidi Gassama and Thelo Aasgaard getting in on the action, either side of Chermiti grabbing his hat-trick away from home.
Mikey Moore far more impressive at Falkirk Stadium
It was far from an ideal final day of the season, with the Gers conceding twice away from home, while Celtic and Hearts battled it out for the Scottish Premiership title at Celtic Park.
Rangers have more hope of signing Mikey Moore permanently this summer, but after his performance against Falkirk, Tottenham fans will be hoping for the youngster to be given a shot next season.
Chermiti also shone again, but with the striker being accused of waiting until it no longer mattered, he caught strays from frustrated fans despite netting a hat-trick this weekend.
If Rohl is still in charge for the 2026-27 campaign, and there is no guarantee of that, Rangers fans are likely to see a much-changed squad after falling short in the race for the league title this term.
