Rangers fans will be 'absolutely over the moon' after Ryan Kent talks update - pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Rangers fans will be “absolutely over the moon” to learn that Ryan Kent is in talks over a new contract.
The former Aberdeen and Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a bumper new deal would be “worth every penny” for the Ibrox club.
According to Football Scotland (29 July), Kent, 25, is in talks over a new Rangers contract.
The report claims Alfredo Morelos has also opened discussions – with Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealing both stars are “more than open” to staying at the club.
Kent and Morelos are both currently set to walk away from Ibrox for free next summer – and can discuss a pre-contract agreement from January 2023.
Whelan insisted the former Liverpool starlet is at an ideal age as he prepares to enter his “prime years”.

“I think Rangers fans will be absolutely over the moon if Kent signs a new contract,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s one player who is at the right age now. He’s coming into his prime years.
“He’s exciting, scores goals, assists, loads of pace – and he’s tenacious in that midfield area.
“He is exactly the sort of player who fills the stadium and gets fans off their seats. To tie him down would be huge, a huge reassurance.
“The money they’d have to pay would be money well spent – it gives Rangers that peace of mind.”
Kent notched three goals and 20 assists during the 2021-22 season.
The Englishman could help his side secure Champions League group stage football with their third qualifying round tie against Union Saint-Gilloise getting underway on Tuesday (2 August).
