Alan Hutton has insisted John Lundstram's injury will be a "big worry" for Rangers and the player.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said that Lundstram will know there is competition for places after the signing of Nicolas Raskin and return of Ianis Hagi from injury.

Lundstram was pictured leaving Ibrox in a boot on Saturday afternoon after he was forced off in the 2-1 win over Ross County.

The 28-year-old hobbled off the pitch unassisted less than 15 minutes into the game.

As quoted by footballscotland (6 February), boss Michael Beale said Lundstram will have a scan to assess the extent of the injury.

Beale said the playmaker's injury "destabilised" them in the game.

It is unclear whether Lundstram will be fit enough for the Scottish Cup game against Partick Thistle on Sunday (12 February).

When asked if the injury will be less of a blow now that Beale has reinforcements, Hutton told Football Insider: "The biggest worry will be for John Lundstram.

Rangers

"He will know that there is competition that has come in. It is a real shame for him, it was a poor ball into the midfield and he chased back to try and correct his mistake and he gets caught on the ankle.

"I think he is still a key member of that squad. Raskin coming in and Hagi coming back, there is options there for the manager. Hopefully it is not too bad because you want a fully fit squad."
