Rangers keen on 11-time capped international who was a boyhood fan of the club - report

Rangers are keen on Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans with the Canaries planning mass changes this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail has claimed that the Gers have identified the 29-year-old central midfielder as a possible addition to their side as they plan to close the gap with fierce rivals Celtic.
The 11-time capped Scotland international has played 22 times for Norwich in the Championship this season, returning six goals and one assist.
However, the second tier English side are set for an exodus this summer as they look to bring down the wage bill and they have already announced that seven senior players will be leaving at the ends of their contract this summer, including former Gers men Kyle Lafferty and Steven Whittaker.
Dorrans himself has not played in Scotland since leaving Livingston for West Brom back in 2007 for an initial £100,000 and he has made a successful career for himself in England with 142 Premier League appearances to his name.

When at West Brom, Dorrans also told how he was a boyhood fan of Rangers when growing up watching the likes of Paul Gascoigne and Brian Laudrup.
“When I was growing up I watched people like Gazza and Brian Laudrup play at Rangers,” told Dorrans to the Birmingham Mail in 2010.
“Gazza was an exceptional talent, especially up in Scotland where you don’t get many people like that.
“He was a fantastic player and I even cheered when he scored by flicking it over Colin Hendry’s head and volleying it in the bottom corner past Andy Goram – that’s how much I enjoyed watching him. I wouldn’t say I was a secret England fan though, I was just a Gazza fan.
“I wouldn’t say I based my game on Gazza, he’s an exceptional talent and it would take a lot to get anywhere near the level of somebody like that.
“But just watching players like that week in, week out can only help you get better.”
The Glasgow-born player may now seek a return to his homeland with his career nearing it’s final stages and he could be tempted with a move to Rangers if Norwich bring an end to his contract, which is set to expire in 2019.
Football Insider verdict:
Dorrans is a high in quality midfielder and that is precisely the position that Rangers are lacking in, especially when Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman head back to their parent clubs this summer. Now, Dorrans does a bit of everything in the centre of the park and he could be the perfect foundation for Pedro Caixinha’s side to push on. The Scotland international has been known for his goals coring ability throughout his career, while he is also known to get stuck into tackles. If Dorrans does become available this summer then he should be a must purchase for the Gers.
