Rangers key first teamer makes huge claim about his future amid reported exit talk

Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has claimed that he is not leaving Ibrox this summer despite it being reported that he may have played his final game for the club.

The Scottish Sun had reported that Foderingham, 27, would be shipped out over the coming months to make way for Scotland international Allan McGregor to become the Light Blues’ new number one goalkeeper for the 2018/19 season.

It was understood that both Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday were interested in the former Swindon shot-stopper, however it will come to a huge blow to the Championship clubs as Foderingham has laid down a major claim about his future.

When a fan demanded answers about why he was leaving, Foderingham responded on his personal Twitter account: “I’m not,” he said.

Foderingham has been key in the Rangers first team this season, appearing 37 times across all competitions and keeping 11 clean sheets.

Foderingham has been very emphatic in his response to a worried fan, and that is a massive boost to Rangers if he does stay. Foderingham is one of the best goalkeepers in Scotland. While he has mistakes in him, so does Craig Gordon, so does Joe Lewis and so will McGregor. It’s going to be a bit of an awkward situation though if McGregor arrives and is not going to be number one choice. Foderingham will not want to slip down the pecking order, he is too good for that, so he may end up re-thinking this tweet at the end of August.
