By Emma Sanders

Former Rangers star Nacho Novo surprised supporter Kraig Mackay with a phone call offering him one of his old playing shirts.

The Ibrox legend made the kind gesture to 11 year-old Mackay, after the fan was attacked on his way to the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

The young fan was hit over the head with a glass bottle on his way to Hampden Park to support his side in their semi-final clash against rivals Celtic.

Mackay needed seven stitches following the attack, but club legend Novo hoped to cheer the youngster up by offering him one of his old playing shirts, according to a report in the Dunfermline Press.

Novo is Mackay’s favourite player and when the former striker heard of the incident, he surprised the youngster with an amusing phone call where he offered to take the fan out for pizza.
