Reliable journalist: Rangers launch late swoop for PL striker - talks underway

Rangers have made contact with Swansea City about signing striker Oli McBurnie on loan, according to a reliable journalist.
The Daily Record’s Scott McDermott claims the Light Blues have “been in touch” with Swansea over signing boyhood Gers fan McBurnie on loan.
McBurnie is a Scotland Under-21 international and has recently been attracting interest from Sunderland, according to Inside Wales Sport.

“I’m hearing that Rangers have been in touch with Swansea City today about taking striker Oli McBurnie on loan. Sunderland also keen but Rangers definitely interested and talks are ongoing…” McDermott said, on his personal Twitter account.
The 6ft 2in tall striker has made no secret of his love for the Gers and could be a good addition to Graeme Murty’s side for the second-half of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
McBurnie’s Swansea contract ends in the summer and the striker could end up making a permanent switch to Ibrox.
The 21-year-old has made 11 Premier League appearances for Swansea so far this season.
Football Insider verdict:
McBurnie is the same type of player Murty and director of football Mark Allen have been chasing all through the transfer window and would be a solid addition to the squad. If McBurnie does sign however, it will leave huge question marks over the future of Alfredo Morelos after the Gers received a bid from Beijing Rehne for the 21-year-old. With his Swansea contract up in the summer, McBurnie would likely have his eyes on earning a permanent switch to his boyhood heroes beyond the summer. The Gers could do much worse than signing McBurnie – temporarily or permanently.
