Rangers may have identified Alfredo Morelos replacement after source's reveal - Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers may be showing interest in Jerry Yates in case Alfredo Morelos’ exits.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side need to strengthen their attacking options and prepare for the future.
On Sunday (23 October), sources told this site that the Light Blues watched Yates in action for Blackpool in their win over Preston North End on Saturday.
The striker has two years left on his contract with the Championship club that includes the option of a further 12 months.
Morelos, 26, has entered the final 12 months of his Ibrox contract and is yet to sign an extension.
As quoted by the Daily Record (18 October), Van Bronckhorst confirmed that contract negotiations with the Colombia international are ongoing.

When asked if Rangers are looking at Yates to strengthen their options or as back-up if Morelos leaves, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it is a bit of both.
“But I think they are more leaning towards the side of uncertainty about Morelos. You always have to plan ahead and that is what Rangers are doing.
“Rangers were interested in him [Yates] before, I think Steven Gerrard had a look at him before.
“I think when you look at Morelos possibly leaving, the injury problems [Kemar] Roofe has had, you are going to have to bring somebody in. This looks like a boy who knows where the back of the net is. So ideally preparing for the future.“
