Sources: Raith Rovers plotting to sign Josh McPake after new Rangers twist
Raith Rovers have set their sights on signing Josh McPake this summer as Rangers prepare to let him go, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed last week (26 April) that the Glasgow giants have told the winger, 20, he is free to find a new club.
An Ibrox source has told Football Insider that Rangers have made it clear that the door has shut on McPake’s chances of making the first-team squad and he could be made available for a free transfer.
That has alerted Scottish Championship outfit Raith, who are keen to recruit a wide attacker in the summer window.
One obstacle to a deal could be removed if Rangers reach an agreement with McPake on a payment for the remaining two years of his contract and make him available on a free.
Rangers have deemed McPake surplus to requirements after he failed to establish himself in their team.

He has had five loans away from Ibrox in the last three seasons and has spent the second half of this term on loan at English League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers.
The winger has scored one goal in 14 appearances for Tranmere since joining in January.
However, he has managed just 12 minutes in the last seven Rovers matches.
The Scotland Under-21 international came through the ranks at the Glasgow giants.
The midfielder’s temporary switch to League One Morecambe was cut short in January after struggling to find fitness and regular minutes for the Shrimps.
The Coatbridge-born starlet has also had spells at Harrogate, Dundee, and Greenock Morton.
In other news, Rangers are in line for a stunning £25million-plus windfall.
