Rangers news: Expert issues two-word verdict on whether RB Leipzig goal should have been disallowed
Danny Mills has insisted there is “no chance” RB Leipzig’s goal in their 1-0 win over Rangers last night (28 April) should have been disallowed for offside.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender claimed Giovanni van Bronckhorst was “clutching at straws” by lambasting VAR.
The Gers boss questioned why Angelino’s stunning late strike was not chalked off by VAR.
Angelino hit a volley from outside of the penalty area past Allan McGregor and through a sea of bodies.
As quoted by the Scotsman today (29 April), Van Bronckhorst claimed VAR should have judged two RB Leipzig players to be in an offside position as the shot was struck.
Asked whether he thought the goal should have been ruled out, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “No chance.

“It was his own players as much as anything else. The ball didn’t go that close to players.
“It’s not like it was aimed at them and they got out of the way. It’s a good strike, the keeper is a little bit unsighted by some of the opposition and some of his own players. They’re not standing directly in front of him.
“I think he’s clutching at straws with that one.”
Rangers will now welcome RB Leipzig to Ibrox next Thursday (5 May) with a place in the final at stake.
Before that, the Light Blues travel to Parkhead on Sunday (1 May) for this season’s final Old Firm fixture.
