Rangers news: Striker agrees overseas move after club green light contract release
Ex-Rangers and Ipswich Town striker Joe Garner is quitting Wigan Athletic mid-season after agreeing a shock move to the Indian Super League, Football Insider understands.
Garner, 32, has asked to be released early from his contract with the Latics that runs until the end of the season.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Wigan have given the green light for Garner to leave and complete a move to East Bengal in the ISL.
They are managed by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, who recently lured Danny Fox and Anthony Pilkington to Bengal from Wigan.
Garner signed a 12-month contract extension days before Wigan were placed into administration in July.
He will leave at big hole at the DW Stadium as he is the club’s top scorer this season with seven goals.
