Rangers will prioritise signing a new striker this summer even if Fabio Silva joins permanently, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Gers are keen to have "two top forwards" at the club for next season and have made this their "number one priority" going into the year's main window.

Their summer budget will depend on whether they can qualify for the Champions League, which is expected to give them a £20million boost to their transfer kitty.

Rangers want two "top" strikers for next season

Rangers plan to be active in the summer window with manager Philippe Clement eager to improve his squad following an exceptional first five months in charge.

Silva's move from Wolves did not include an option to buy, meaning Rangers will have to go to the negotiating table and sort out a fee if they want to sign him permanently.

Rangers have targeted three positions that they want to strengthen for next season, with Football Insider revealing (13 March) that they want to sign a new left-back, central midfielder and striker.

Striker Kemar Roofe is expected to depart the club at the end of the season, with sources telling Football Insider (10 March) that they do not plan to extend his deal and he is set to become a free agent.

They are next in action in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie against Benfica at Ibrox on Thursday evening (14 March).
