Rangers fans have been left shell-shocked on Twitter after Jon Toral was left out of the squad to face Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

Toral, 22, started in midfield during the 6-0 win over Hamilton last weekend, but has been completely left out of Graeme Murty’s matchday 18 to face Celtic.

Interim boss Murty has made two changes to his side, as posted on the Gers’ official Twitter account, as Danny Wilson and Lee Hodson replace Toral and Rob Kiernan.

On loan from Arsenal, Toral has starred since his move north to Glasgow and even opened his account for the Gers last time out during the huge Scottish Cup triumph against Hamilton.

However, Murty has opted to leave the Spaniard out of his side, although it remains to be seen if a last-minute injury has forced the playmaker to miss Sunday’s Old Firm clash.

Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Toral had been omitted from the squad completely, with many distraught that his creativity in the final third would not be on show.

Without Toral, Murty has instead opted to move James Tavernier into midfield alongside Jason Holt and Bournemouth loanee Emerson Hyndman, while Andy Halliday also drops out.
