Rangers are set to announce Leon Balogun as their fourth summer signing after agreeing terms, Football Insider has learned.

The centre-back, 32, will move to Ibrox after his contract with Brighton expired.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Balogun has already passed a Rangers medical and is heading to Glasgow this afternoon to put pen to paper.

Balogun is a free agent after his contract with Brighton expired at the end of June.

He spent the last six months on loan at Wigan Athletic and extended that deal until their Championship campaign ended with relegation on Wednesday night.

Rangers have been in the market for a new centre-back after Nikola Katic ruptured his cruciate ligaments.

The Croatian powerhouse is set to miss most of the upcoming season and Steven Gerrard made it clear to the Ibrox hierarchy he wanted a proven replacement.

Balogun fits the bill after racking up extensive experience in England and Germany as well as with the Nigerian national team.

The German-born star has 32 times international caps for Nigeria, who he qualifies to play for through his father.

He joined Brighton in the summer of 2018 on a two-year deal but has been on the fringes of the team due to extensive centre-back competition.
