Alan Hutton wants Ridvan Yilmaz to stay at Rangers and battle with Borna Barisic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said he initially thought Yilmaz would leave Ibrox on loan but now he can't see it happening.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim (8 November), new Besiktas manager Şenol Güneş wants to bring the 21-year-old back to his former club despite only joining Rangers in the summer.

Trabzonspor and Galatasaray are also said to be keen on a loan move for the left-back.

Yilmaz had been in favour with Giovanni van Bronckhorst in recent games before being forced off just eight minutes into the 4-1 win over Aberdeen on 29 October.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times (29 October), the manager expects the Turkey international to be sidelined for a few weeks.

When asked if he could see a loan move happening, Hutton told Football Insider: "At one stage I thought it might happen because he was not playing, was not really getting a sniff at all.

"In recent weeks he has come in to the side and has done well in my opinion. I thought Borna Barisic looked quite negative in certain games, he tended to go backwards. Whether that is a confidence problem I am not so sure.

"But, as soon as Yilmaz came in, his first thought was to go forward, play the ball forwards and get after it.

"He was unlucky to pick up an injury, that is probably because he has not played a lot of football. I would like to see him stay and really battle it out for that position because I think he has really got something there to prove."
