Rangers defender Calvin Bassey is set to make way for Borna Barisic as Steven Gerrard rings the changes for tonight's Europa League clash against Lech Poznan.

The Light Blues host the Polish side in their second group stage clash at Ibrox after recording an impressive 2-0 win at Standard Liege in their opener last week.

Gerrard made five changes his team for last Sunday's 2-0 triumph against Livingston, and is set to make a similar number this evening.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that one expected alteration is for Barisic to return at left-back in place of Bassey.

The 20-year-old, who joined on a free transfer from Leicester City over the summer, made an excellent impression both as a sub in Liege and also as a starter against Livi.

But Croatia international Barisic is the first choice and he is expected to return to the first choice back four that also includes James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Filip Helander.

With Allan McGregor behind them in goal, the quintet will provide the foundations for a defence that has been rock-solid so far this season.

Rangers have conceded just three goals in 12 Scottish Premiership matches and been similarly mean in Europe, with only one goal conceded from four fixtures in the qualifying and group stages.

That continued on Sunday as he replaced Barisic in the starting XI and delivered an assured performance against Livingston.

But, as long as the Croatian does not feel any pain following the injury sustained in Belgium a week ago, he is set to return to the team tonight.
