Rangers have made a move for Grady Diangana but face an uphill battle to prise him from West Ham.
The winger, 22, has had an impressive season on loan at West Brom and been strongly linked with a host of leading clubs this week, including both Glasgow giants and promotion-chasing Albion.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Rangers are keen on Diangana and have expressed an interest in signing him when the Premier League window opens at the end of the month.
But West Ham manager David Moyes does not want to let Diangana go, either permanently or on loan.
The £20million-valued wide man wants a regular starting role and is keen to be at a club where he can get that next season after proving himself at West Brom.
Moyes rates Diangana highly, does not want to cash in on him and is ready to make him a first-team regular next season even if the Hammers stay up.
The door is only likely to open for Rangers or any of his other suitors if the situation changes at West Ham in terms of their winger roster.
Diangana is a wanted man after making a big impact in this season’s Championship.
The Irons academy product has scored seven goals and supplied six assists in 28 Championship matches this season.
Two hamstring injuries curbed his progress before the lockdown but he has bounced back to be a central figure in Slaven Bilic’s side since the restart.
West Ham opted not to trigger a recall clause in his West Brom loan deal in January as they preferred Diangana to keep getting regular senior game experience.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that Bournemouth are in pole position to beat the Ibrox giants to 26-goal striker.
