Rangers midfielder target Nnamdi Ofoborh has rejected two new contract offers from Bournemouth, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Light Blues have set their sights on luring the Nigerian, 21, to Ibrox and are keen to finalise a deal this month.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are keen on Ofoborh and have been given a huge boost in their pursuit as he has twice knocked back new Bournemouth deals.

The youngster is closing in on a move from the Championship high flyers but the Light Blues face competition for his services.

Rangers are also working on a deal for Ofoborh's Bournemouth teammate Jack Simpson.

It is understood that Rangers recruitment chief Ross Wilson is close to the defender's agent and that could help smooth a potential deal.

Like Simpson, Ofoborh is out of contract at Bournemouth at the end of the season and can agree a pre-contract with a non-English club from this month.

The London-born midfielder joined the Cherries from Millwall in 2017 and has progressed through the ranks at the Vitality Stadium to make five first-team appearances.

All of those have come this season, with three in the Championship and two in the EFL Cup.

However, Ofoborh's three league appearances have all been as a late substitute and he is still waiting for his full Championship debut.

The young midfielder, who can also slot in at centre-back, has also had a spell on loan at Wycombe Wanderers when they were in League One.

He has made 12 appearances this season, including starts in six of the Cherries' last eight league matches.
