Rangers are poised to make a third bid for Brighton defender Connor Goldson on Monday, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that a third bid will be lodged within hours, with the Premier League side wanting £3million to let Goldson depart.
Two previous bids from Rangers already have been rejected for the player who is keen on a move to Ibrox.
Goldson has struggled for game-time at Brighton, making just three Premier League appearances last season.
He has made 43 appearances in total since his £765k move from Shrewsbury in August 2015.
The towering centre-back stands at 6ft 3 according to Transfermarkt.
Football Insider verdict:
It might be too much to say that Brighton are holding Rangers to ransom but they’re obviously aware that they’ve got money to spend and are in desperate need of good defenders. The Martin Skrtel deal fell through because of finances but this one looks likely to complete shortly and we’d imagine he’ll go for slightly less than the £3million Brighton are holding out for. Goldson is contracted until 2020 but hasn’t played much for Brighton last season and £3million seems a bit toppy. Goldson is behind Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy at the centre of Brighton’s defence. However, he is a defender that’s got plenty enough about him to be a big success in the Premiership. He might not have the same marquee feel about him as Skrtel, but he’s a no-nonsense defender who also offer versatility and he’s a big improvement on what Rangers currently have in that position. Goldson should become Rangers’ fourth summer signing after deals were completed for Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy – with the latter signing a permanent deal from Brighton.
