Rangers have been urged to sign a replacement for attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Scotland international Alan Hutton believes that Rangers need to enter the market to find a replacement for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.

Cantwell has had a tumultuous relationship with Rangers fans since moving to Glasgow from Norwich City back in January 2023.

The Englishman has since been relegated to the Rangers B team after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Philippe Clement.

It's been a busy transfer window for Ranger so far as they've brought in eight players and losing a wealth of experience with the likes of Connor Goldson, John Lundstram, and Ryan Jack all leaving.

Cantwell has made 64 appearances and scored 14 goals since making the move to the Scottish Premier League side.

When asked about Rangers' business this transfer window, Hutton told Football Insider "It's an interesting one definitely. I think in midfield they need a bit more experience.

"I think Robin Propper coming in is a good signing, the FC Twente captain, he'll be the replacement for Goldson.

"The rest depends on if anyone leaves. You look at the Cantwell situation, if he was to go, I think Tom Lawrence has come in and done really well.

"He had a great pre-season but can he manage to play every single game? It's going to be difficult for him."
