Tottenham and Newcastle United have joined the chase for Rangers teen sensation Jack Wylie, sources have told Football Insider.

The defender, 15, is in demand from the Premier League big guns after scouts delivered rave reviews on his performances for the Glasgow giants' youth sides and also for Scotland Under-16s.

Man United, Arsenal and Leeds United have all registered their interest in Wylie ahead of the January transfer window.

Rangers

Now, they face new competition from fellow big hitters Tottenham and Newcastle, who are also in dialogue with the youngster's camp.

Wylie is not eligible to sign professional forms with Rangers until he turns 16 next August, raising fears that his English suitors could look to lure him away from Ibrox.

Rangers do not want to lose any more of their young stars after Billy Gilmour signed for Chelsea and Rory Wilson headed to Aston Villa in recent years.

They are rolling out the red carpet to convince Wylie his development is best served by staying at Ibrox.

In addition to what sources say is a "big-money" first-year professional deal, director of football Ross Wilson and club chiefs are working hard to get a deal done ahead of January.

They are well aware of the interest from south of the border.

But those talks failed and he moved to Villa for a cross-border development fee of just £300,000.

Wylie is regarded just as highly by Rangers, who are set to announce that another young star, Leon King, has signed a lucrative new contract.
