A host of clubs in England will be considering a move for Alfredo Morelos this summer as a result of his impressive form for Rangers in 2021.

That is according to 2000 European Golden Shoe winner Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s recent displays for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Morelos has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 10 appearances across all competitions this calendar year.

One of those goals came in yesterday’s decisive 3-0 win over St Mirren, with Celtic’s 0-0 draw at Dundee United today seeing the Light Blues crowned Scottish Premiership champions.

Ex-Ger Lan Hutton told Football Insider that Morelos will leave Ibrox this summer if the “right fee” comes in.

When asked for his assessment of the striker’s future, the well-connected former Derby County, Leicester City and Stoke City coach Phillips told Football Insider:

“Morelos is getting back among the goals. He is looking a real threat again. He is doing at the right time of the season as well.

“His performances have raised a few eyebrows. There will be lots of conversations at clubs up and down England about him and clubs will be doing their research and their due diligence.

“I am really intrigued to see if he will leave Rangers this summer and if so, where he goes.

“It would not surprise me if he ends up moving abroad. I think it is less likely that a Premier League team will take a punt.”
