Rangers TV pundit cites Kamara as 'brilliant' Ibrox offer reported

Alan Hutton has claimed Hearts centre-back John Souttar would be a “brilliant” pre-contract signing for Rangers.

The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old could prove as good value for money as Glen Kamara has at Ibrox.

As reported by the Edinburgh Evening News on Thursday (13 January), Rangers have tabled a lucrative pre-contract offer to tempt Souttar to join ahead of Blackburn and Sheffield United.

The Light Blues are reportedly confident of sealing his capture.

The report claims Hearts will then consider whether to push for a transfer this month or let him leave on a free in the summer.

Hutton suggested signing Souttar could rival Kamara’s £50,000 move from Dundee in terms of value for money.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’d be brilliant. He’s only still only 25, I always knew he was an excellent player.

“He knows the league inside out, knows what it’s all about, how tough it can be. He’s used to it.

“There’ll be no pressure for him, I don’t think. It could be one of those signings that goes down and you’re thinking it’s up there with Glen Kamara.

If he goes on to play half as well as Glen Kamara then it could be a great deal.

“He’s a top-quality player and he’s adding to the squad, if not better than what’s already there.

“The one problem was his injuries. That was the big question mark, nothing else. Nothing about ability. He has shown this season he’s through that.”

Souttar has been a mainstay for Hearts this season, with 22 appearances under his belt.

He has played a total of 180 times in the Premiership to date.

In other news, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been tipped to be “all over” luring another defender to Ibrox after £2million update.
