Rangers are still interested in signing Aberdeen central midfielder Kenny McLean, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that the Ibrox club remain keen on signing McLean, 25, even though the Dons have insisted he is not for sale.
It is said that Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is pursuing McLean and another Scottish Premiership big gun in Hearts’ Jamie Walker.
The Scottish giants are preparing a final take-it-or-leave-it offer of £600,000 for Walker, 24, after having a £500,000 bid rejected.
Walker has just one year remaining on his contract with Hearts and will be available to leave on a free transfer next summer as it stands.
McLean made 53 appearances for Aberdeen last season, scoring five goals and supplying five assists from midfield.
Football Insider verdict:
After the huge influx of foreign imports, it is clear Caixinha is now focusing on signing proven Scottish Premiership performers. About time, too. There is a real hit-or-miss feel about Rangers’ summer shopping and they need to land a few more players who have showed they can deliver in the top flight.
In other Rangers transfer news, an English side have revived their interest in the club’s 26-year-old.
