Rangers will win the Scottish Premiership next season and the superlative Steven Davis will spend the rest of his career with the club.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalscorer Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rangers sealed a first Scottish Premiership title in a decade was confirmed on Sunday.
The 36-year-old’s role in the historic 55th title triumph cannot be understated and fans have been continually blown away by his ability to work the levers in midfield.
Football Insider revealed in February that Rangers were optimistic that Davis would sign a one-year contract extension before his current deal expires in May.
Campbell tipped Rangers to make it consecutive titles in 2021-22 and predicted that Steven Davis will be orchestrating things at Ibrox until he hangs up his boots.
He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “Well, he’s doing really well. He’s a good player. The level he’s brought to Rangers has been phenomenal.
“It’s seen them really push on this season. Now, they’ve just won the league title and he’s been a huge part of that.
“One year at a time, at 36, why not see his career out at Rangers? See if they can go back-to-back. You wouldn’t bet against, it would you?”
Steven Gerrard’s side secured the title after Celtic were held to a 0-0 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday.
Their focus will now turn to attempting to remain unbeaten for the season, as well as continuing to make progress in the Europa League.
