Rangers aren't willing to let Danny Rohl leave for RB Salzburg without compensation.

The Austrian outfit are reportedly in talks with the Gers over taking the German manager from them ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Midway through the 2025-26 campaign, the Light Blues appointed the 37-year-old head coach after sacking Russell Martin.

While Rohl has retained the faith of Andrew Cavenagh at Ibrox, it looks like the American owners have had a plan in place to replace him for some time now.

The German manager brought stability back to the Light Blues after taking over in October, but his reputation took a hit after losing four out of five games post-split in the William Hill Premiership.

At one point in the season, it looked like the Govan side could win the league title after clawing their way back towards top spot, but they suffered a disappointing end.

Rangers demands set over Danny Rohl exit

Rohl has emerged as a serious candidate to replace Daniel Beichler at RB Salzburg after they finished third in the 2025-26 campaign.

The German manager has two years left on his contract and the hierarchy at the Red Bull Arena will have to pay for his arrival from Ibrox.

According to Sky Sports on 11 June, RB Salzburg will have to meet the Gers' demands around competition to get a deal over the line for the 37-year-old head coach.

It has been claimed that, despite Rohl being given assurances about his role at the Govan side, the American owners have continued to review their options since May.

Danny Rohl exit may be blessing in disguise at Ibrox

Sources told Football Insider in May that Rohl was facing growing calls for his sacking at Rangers after a miserable end to the season.

Cavenagh has publicly backed the German manager at Ibrox since then, but he may now have an opportunity to do something many fans in G51 have wanted to see ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

If Rohl does leave, there will obviously be talks of Steven Gerrard's return to the Glaswegian outfit in the summer, but since they've been considering their options for some time now, Cavenagh may already have a replacement in mind.
