Danny Rohl presents Rangers plan as Bailey Rice urged to sign new contract
Danny Rohl has pushed Bailey Rice to commit his future to Rangers ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The defensive-midfielder's deal at the Gers expires at the end of June and he's reportedly yet to make a decision over his future.
As things stand, the 19-year-old has plenty of options on the table and has been training in Marbella recently, doing one-on-one sessions with Ash Taylor's NXT Level Lab.
Rice has been offered an extension at Ibrox as talks continue, but the biggest factor for the youngster will be playing time, as he wants regular first-team football.
West Ham United, Ajax and Schalke have been linked with a move for the midfielder, while former Gers manager Michael Beale, who was recently appointed at Zulte Waregem, is keeping an eye on his situation.
Rohl has already presented the Govan side's plan with the former Motherwell and it remains to be seen what he will decide.
Danny Rohl wants Bailey Rice back for pre-season at Rangers
Rohl has urged Rice to sign a new deal and report for training at the Gers, where he will be assessed before any call is made on his future.
The German manager wants the youngster back for pre-season and the Light Blues will then see whether things stand regarding his role in the first team.
According to the Daily Record on 8 June, if Rice isn't considered ready to be a regular in Rohl's plans, then they will look for a suitable loan to a club where he will get those opportunities.
The midfielder made just one appearance for the Govan side's senior team in the 2025-26 campaign in the second round of the Premier Sports Cup against Alloa Athletic in August, struggling out of position at left-back, before being forced off with an injury just before the break.
Danny Rohl doesn't have best reputation at Ibrox
Sources told Football Insider in May that Findlay Curits was keen on staking his claim at Rangers after an encouraging spell on loan at Kilmarnock.
Rohl didn't trust the Scotland international to play a part in the Gers title-chasing season, effectively replacing him in the winter transfer window with Andreas Skov Olsen, who failed to have the desired impact at Ibrox.
The German manager's reluctance to have faith in the 19-year-old winger may hinder the Glaswegian outfit's attempts to tie Rice down to a new contract, as he will surely wonder what the future holds for him if he stays in G51.
