Andrew Cavenagh to be ‘persuaded’ into Rangers investment after £4.5bn deal – Insider

Andrew Cavenagh could potentially follow up the sale of his company with a huge new investment in Rangers’ finances.

That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes it is not out of the question that Cavenagh could soon ramp up his funding of the Gers to another level.

Recent reports in the USA have suggested that the 56-year-old is now actively looking to sell his company ParetoHealth, in a deal that could see him land an eye-watering £4.5billion.

Wyness believes that a sale of his company could potentially tempt the Rangers chairman into pouring more money into the club, in order to help it reach the next level.

He and the 49ers have been ambitious with their plans for the Glasgow giants since they completed their takeover back in May 2025, but they are yet to truly see the fruits of their labour.

However, Wyness has no doubt that Rangers are now finally starting to show the level of stability that Cavenagh and his counterparts had hoped to instil.

Andrew Cavenagh could boost Rangers' funding

Aberdeen’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs – believes that if Cavenagh invests some of the money he secures into Rangers, it would likely not be pumped straight into the team.

Instead, he expects that the chairman may provide further funding to boost other revenue-generating sources at the club, or even an upgrade to Ibrox itself.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained how he feels Cavenagh could be “persuaded” into investing more in Rangers once he sells ParetoHealth.

“For the first time, things are starting to get into line in lots of different areas for Rangers. A major shareholder here with some serious cash coming in could be helpful,” he said.

“But then again, he may decide that football is not where he wants to waste his money on very expensive football players. And I get that. The next six months will tell us whether some of that is going to be invested in Rangers.

“It may well be that it goes into sensible things in terms of revenue-generating facilities or even redeveloping Ibrox, some of those sort of things.

“Rangers are showing some signs of getting some stability in going forward despite the early season start. Everything seems to be turning around, and the numbers are looking better as well. So he may well be persuaded to part with that.

“It's a big number he's going to get from there, so he may want to have part of that and put it into Rangers.”

Rangers in talks to 'exit' £20m deal after admission - Keith Wyness

Rangers to exit £20m deal after admission

Wyness also told Football Insider on Sunday that Rangers are looking for a way to exit their long-term merchandise deal with Castore in the coming months.

This comes after Cavenagh recently told the Rangers Fans Advisory Board that he would not have signed the original £20million deal with the sportswear brand under its current terms.

Wyness is adamant that the chairman’s public admission is a clear sign that the club are preparing to exit the agreement in any way they can.

Umbro are now producing the Gers’ official kits, but Castore are still on board producing other elements of the club’s merchandise.
